How To Buy BRC20 Tokens

1. Wallet Installation

As a first step, you will need to install a BRC20 compatible wallet. For the purposes of this article we have chosen the OKX wallet, but other wallets should have similar user experiences.

OKX Desktop Wallet

  • In the chrome store search for ‘okx wallet’ and download this extension
  • Click on ‘create wallet’ and then on ‘seed phrase’
  • Enter a password for the wallet
  • Click continue and this will generate your wallet
  • You do not need to make this the default wallet if you don’t wish to.
  • To gain access to your wallet address you need to click on ‘back up now’
  • Enter your password from above step
  • Make a note of your seed phrase somewhere
  • Complete the seed phrase verification by selecting the corresponding words
  • Your wallet is now set up and you will be able to access your Bitcoin wallet address

OKX Mobile Wallet

  • Download ‘okx’ from your mobiles app store
  • Toggle to ‘wallet’ rather than ‘exchange’
  • Click on ‘create wallet’ and then ‘seed phrase’
  • Depending on your mobile version you may be asked if you wish to ‘enable face ID’ this depends on your preference
  • Then set a wallet password
  • Click on ‘back up’ and select your preference of saving your seed phrase ‘iCloud’ or ‘By writing down’ - we advice you choose the ‘By writing down’ option
  • Read and accept the declaration and watch the animated warning about seed phrases and then press ‘start’
  • You will then be prompted to enter the password you used from the previous step above
  • Make a not of your seed phrase and then select ‘done, next step’
  • Complete the seed phrase verification with the corresponding words
  • Your wallet is now all set up and ready to use

2. Funding Your Wallet

Next you need to obtain BTC to use as gas and to purchase the tokens. We have provided two alternatives here - one option is to fund through a centralised exchange and another in a decentralised manner.

Funding Via CEX

  • In your OKX wallet click on the receive button.
  • Click to copy the Bitcoin Wallet address that is shown on the screen
  • Now go over to the CEX of your choice and find the relevant token - in this case bitcoin on bitcoin network.
  • Click to withdraw
  • Paste in your new bitcoin wallet address from the OKX app or desktop extension
  • Complete any security prompts that may be required (this varies depending on the CEX used)
  • Wait for your funds to arrive in the OKX wallet.

Funding Via Sideshift

  • Head over to https://sideshift.ai/
  • Connect your Erc-20 wallet on Ethereum Mainnet
  • Set sending details as ETH on Ethereum Mainnet
  • Set receiving details as BTC on Bitcoin
  • Enter your BRC-20 wallet address in the receiving address box
  • Click on ‘shift’
  • Click on ‘send from wallet’
  • Enter the amount in ETH to send (minimum is approx 0.2 ETH)
  • Click on ‘send’ and then sign the wallet transaction
  • This will initialise your bridge transaction - this process takes around 10 mins to get your BTC in your BRC-20 wallet

Using sideshift, you can bridge using a variety of tokens from a variety of networks.

3. Buying a BRC-20 Token

Now you need to head to one of the marketplaces and purchase your chosen token. For this article we have selected our .COM token and cover the OKX and Unisats marketplaces.

Buying .com on OKX Marketplace

Buying .com on Unisats Marketplace

  • Go to https://unisat.io/brc20/.com
  • Click on ‘trade’ this will take you to the marketplace screen where you can see available orders
  • Click on the order you wish to purchase
  • Scroll down and click on ‘Confirm’
  • Sign the wallet confirmations
  • Congratulations you just joined the .com community
